Claude Chabrol:
4 New-Wave
Classics |
|
Claude Chabrol
(1930 – 2010),
like Godard and
Truffaut, was a
critic at
Cahiers du
cinema during
the 1950s. In
1958 he made the
acclaimed
Bitter Reunion,
considered the
precursor to the
nouvelle vague.
As a prolific
director, Chabrol
eventually made
over 60 films.
Many of them are
now regarded as
suspense
classics, thus
earning him the
nickname “the
French
Hitchcock”. |

In this year
placed under the
theme of
“Contemporary
Artisan since
1837”, Hermès is
pleased to
present Hearts
and Crafts, a
documentary film
directed by Frédéric Laffont
and Isabelle
Dupuy-Chavanat.
Opening the
doors of the
house, the film
lifts up the
veil of those
who are at the
hearts of it all
- the
contemporary
craftsmen :
collecting the
breath of
leather and
crystal, the
songs of silk
and metal, the
words, the
gestures, the
movements as
well as, the
silence.
The film pays
homage to the
men and women
who give life to
the objects of
this Parisian
house.
