The controversy surrounding Roman Polanski could have threatened to overshadow the release of his latest film, but the sheer impeccable intensity and stylishness of this noir thriller is undeniable. |

Asian Films Shine at the
HKIFF Industry
Screenings
This year eight Chinese
language films from the
Mainland will feature
under a new section
called “China
Screenings” at the HKIFF
Industry Screenings
(HIS) to emphasise the
growing strength of the
film industry and
culture on the Mainland.
Titles include: Apart
Together (Winner of
Berlin Silver Bear Award
for Best Screenplay),
After All These Years,
Ant City, Bodyguards and
Assassins, Distant
Thunder, Dooman River,
The High Life and
Tangle.
The HIS is a
collaborative initiative
set up in 2007 between
the HKIFF and the Hong
Kong International Film
& TV Market (FILMART) to
offer market and
industry access to new
and quality Asian
productions. Compared to
only one Mainland film
selected in 2009, the
HIS this year reflects
the growing quality and
market interest in the
Chinese language films. |
